The University of Cape Town was established in 1829, first as the South African College which was a high school for boys only. The then college possessed a relatively small tertiary education facility which continually grew in subsequent years following the discovery of diamonds and gold in the north. Postgraduates at University of Cape Town

The University of Cape Town offers postgraduate diplomas, masters and doctoral degrees but not limited to the previously mentioned courses. Postgraduates should read through the official website of the institution and read through the available courses and eligibility criteria for each.

Tuition Fee Structure

Annually, the institution raises its tuition fee, therefore, there is an annual release of the student’s handbook which communicates the new tuition fees for the year. International students would pay more than the domestics, here is a structure of the recently paid tuition fees.

Undergraduates- $2500 – $4500

Postgraduates- $2700-$3000


The least requirement for admission into the undergraduate program is a national senior certificate (NSC) which must be certified by Analisi also with an achievement rating of 3 (moderate achievement, 40-49%) or better in four recognized NSC 20-credit subjects.

While for postgraduates, they are required to consult the faculty they are applying to as requirements vary from one faculty to the other.
