The University of Dundee is located in Dundee, which is also Scotland’s fourth-largest city. Initially founded in 1866, the University was a constituent college of St Mary’s College and the University of St Andrew’s. A joint petition was submitted by the council of Queen’s College and St Andrew’s University in 1966. The petition sought for a grant which allowed for the establishment of the University of Dundee, the petition was granted which led to the conversion of Queen’s college to the University of Dundee, on the 1st of August 1967.

A willingness for expansion by the Queen’s college alongside its gigantic structure and location played a pivotal role in their decision to seek separation. The royal charter which granted the university of Dundee emancipation in 1967 consists of provision for the organization of the University, the framework for the governance of the University shares a semblance with governance structures created in the 19th and 20th century through various Scottish University Acts.

The hierarchy in the University of Dundee comprises of the Chancellor, Rector, Principal and Vice-Chancellor. The University also makes provision for several student residencies spread out across the city of Dundee. These residences include Belmont tower, Belmont flats, Heathfield, West park and Peterson hall, to name a few. The University of Dundee has also provided numerous alumni’s who have gone on to achieve various landmarks, a few of these alumni’s include, B.C Forbes who was the founder of Forbes magazine, Sir James Black a pharmacologist who won a noble laureate in 1988 and Ronald Coase, an economist and also a noble laureate winner in 1991 amongst many others.

Eligibility and How To Apply

Exams are being carried out at the countries of applicants, examples of these exams are SAT’S, AP’S (Advanced Placement exams or A level exam. A good grade score is also advised as this increased the chances of being considered for admission. While for Masters applicants, only individuals with a 3.0 minimum GPA would be considered for admission. All courses being taught at the university is in English as such applicants are required to be proficient in the language, applicants whose first language is not English are required to take IELTS exams, take the University of Dundee language course, provide qualification confirming English level or proof of attaining the University’s English exemption.

An application form is required to be filled on the University’s official webpage to apply, providing copies of all academic transcripts and certificates, confirming English language qualifications. After which these are to be sent to an Email or address both of which can be found on the University’s webpage. After submission of application the University reviews applications in order to be sure they are suitable for the program chosen by the applicants. A formal letter outlining the conditions of the conditional offer is being sent to applicants if this is accepted then an unconditional offer is then sent. Upon accepting the course, a deposit is required to be made to confirm the acceptance of an offer.
