Durham University is one of the oldest universities in England and one of the top ten universities in UK. It is located in the cathedral city of Durham in the north-east of England. It is a collegiate and has 16 colleges that provide welfare, residential and social facilities for their students.

Admission Requirements

It is compulsory to meet the minimum academic and English language entrance requirements. The English grade required is 60% with a minimum of 50% in all skills. Other courses require a minimum of 70% and a maximum of 80% grade, depending on the course. To proceed to your undergraduate or postgraduate degree, it is compulsory that you complete your pathway programme and achieve your required grades.

Accommodation

Durham University colleges offer a range of accommodation for its students, both undergraduate and postgraduate students. In the first year, accommodations are guaranteed for all their students. Thus, the students are required to live in their college and in the second year, move into their private accommodations.

Fees and Funding For International Students

1. For Business, Economics, Accounting and Finance students: £9,250.00 per year for EU students and home students; and £21,500.00 per year for International students.
2. For Science and Engineering students: £9,250.00 per year for EU and home students; and £26,500.00 per year for International students.
3. Humanities, Laws and Social Science students: £9,250.00 per year for EU and home students; and £20,500.00 per year for International students.

Postgraduate Study

There are two study options for postgraduate study. They include:

• Taught Course: this is ideal for students who want a structured framework for their studies. Most of the courses are one-year Masters courses delivered through lectures, tutorials, and seminars. It could act as a foundation for further studies at the research degree level.
• Research Degrees: the research qualifications can be studied for one, two or three years (full-time), or two, four or six years (part-time). Here, students develop their personal timetable under the supervision of an academic staff team.
• International Study Centre: an international student who does not meet the requirement for direct entry could take a Pre-Masters programme at the University International Study Centre. The duration is two or three terms, depending on his/her English language score. This degree will help the student to make a significant contribution in his chosen field of study.

They are the same as the undergraduate courses.

The fee is charged annually.

1. Business, Economics, Accounting, and Finance: EU and home students – £14,500.00 and International students – £26,500.00
2. Science and Engineering: EU and home students-£10,500.00 and International students-£24,500.00
3. Humanities, Laws and Social Science: EU and home students-£11,000.00 and international students-£20,500.00
