25 International Scholarships for African/Developing Countries with April 2017 Deadlines
The following are scholarships offered by organisations, governments and institutions for students from Africa and developing Countries with application deadlines in April 2017. Some of these scholarships are offered for international students generally.
Please note that participation for most of these scholarships require that you already have or are in the process of gaining admission to participating university(ies) for the 2017/2018 academic year.

Every year Loughborough University UK offers Full Tuition fee Graduate School Development Trust scholarship for African students.
This scholarship, provided by Shanghai government for international students studying in Shanghai, is in two types: A, B. Type A, exclusively for those who study for Master’s or Doctoral degrees, is full scholarship, including tuition, free accommodation,accident insurance, allowance for living; Type B, only for those who study fordegrees, is partial scholarship, only including tuition accident insurance.
The Jeroen Ensink Memorial scholarship of LSHTM is offered to students from sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia who are committed to improving public health in developing countries and wish to undertake the MSc Public Health for Development course.
VLIR-UOS offers full Masters & training Scholarships in Belgium for students from Developing countries – half of this scholarship will be offered to African students and preference will be given for Women. The eligible training or Masters programmes are taught in English.
Wells Mountain Foundation offers the Empowerment through Education Scholarship Program for secondary school leavers to study for Bachelors degree in Developing Countries.
The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) Early Career Academic Grants are open to early career academics employed by ACU member universities, enabling them to participate in a conference held in a Commonwealth country other than their own.
Building on the capacity strengthening component of the project, several short-term graduate student visiting scholar positions for Nigerian students at Masters and PhD level will be offered at Michigan State University (MSU), East Lansing, Michigan, United States of America over the 5 year life of the project.
University of Winnipeg scholarships will be given to international students who are entering any of the University’s divisions for the first time – Undergraduate, Graduate, Collegiate, Professional, Applied and Continuing Education (PACE) or English Language Program (ELP). Applicants must be involved in activities that demonstrate leadership.
The Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) offers masters scholarships for African students to study for selected programs. This program consists of five 2-year MSc programs (Laurea Magistrale), all taught in English.
The Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University through the support of Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport offers five scholarships for developing countries. Applications for these scholarships are open to all students from developing countries and/or countries going through a process of political and economic transition.
