Cost of Living in Switzerland

Scholarship in Switzerland
1. Swiss Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Students
The scholarship is available to postgraduate researchers in any discipline. It covers tuition fees, monthly payment, airfare, housing cost and insurance allowance.
The selection criteria include profile of the candidate, quality of the research project, potential for future research cooperation.
Submission deadline is between September and December.
2. University of Lausanne Master’s Scholarship for Foreign Students
The university of Lausanne offers scholarships to Master’s students at the university through the UNIL Master’s Grants. The value of the scholarship is CHF1,600 per month. The application time for the scholarship is between 15th July and 15th September.
3. Graduate Institute Geneva Scholarships (Mater’s Programme)
The institute offers a large number of scholarships which could be full or partial. Full scholarship is CHF20000, while partial scholarship is CHF10000.
4. ETH Excellence Scholarships
ETH Zurich offers scholarships to candidates who wish to offer a Master’s programme in the university. It covers full tuition fees, as well as, living expenses. Students also receive a partial stipend and an offer of assistantship.
5. Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) Excellence Fellowships
EPFL offers fellowships at the Master’s level to students with outstanding records. Some of the fellowships are directly financed by EPFL, while some are financed by partnership companies and foundations. Anyone applying for Master’s degree is eligible for the application. The worth of the scholarship is between CHF16,000 and CHF32000 depending on the duration of the scholarship. Application can be filled online between 15th November and 15th December, or from the 16th of December to the 15th of April. Course starts January.
6. IMB MBA Scholarships (Master’s Programme)
Each scholarship programme awards between CHF25000 and 50000. Admission is offered annually to individuals who wish to study in Switzerland. Deadline for submission is 30th June and course starts every January,
7. Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowships (IIF) for Developing Countries
The scholarship is available to international students from developing countries who wish to offer postdoctoral courses. It is an annual fellowship whose deadline for submission is usually 14th August.
8. University of Bern Master’s Grant for International Students
The programme is packaged for individuals who wish to study in Switzerland. Application deadline is 31st December and courses start September the following year.
9. IO-MBA Programme Scholarships at the University of Geneva
The scholarship is designed for Master’s programmes in the University of Geneva. The application deadline is 30th June and course starts September.
10. Jim Ellert MBA Scholarship at IMD
The deadline for submission is 30th September and course starts the following January.
11. Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Scholarships
The scholarship is provided for applicants who wish to run a Master’s degree in Geneva, Switzerland. The deadline for submission is 31st January, 2020 (annual scholarship), course starts in September 2020.
12. IMD Emerging Markets Scholarships
The scholarship is for Master’s degree pursuant in Switzerland. Admission is annually and course starts January.
How to Access Scholarship in Switzerland
There are in existence, more than 1300 organizations and foundations that offer scholarships and grants to home and foreign students in Switzerland. The Swiss government is not left out of the magnanimity, as it also provides so to its citizens, as well as, foreigners.
There are two ways to get scholarships in Switzerland: through the government or through the various agencies that offer scholarships to individual students. The scholarships may be fully or partially funded. The Swiss government provide its scholarships through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS). Some countries receive more sponsorships to its citizens than others.
The official language required for the application of scholarship is English language. Some applications require physical submission, while some are done online.
