The University of Sydney is an Australian public research university located in Sydney, Australia. The University was founded in 1850, making it Australia’s premier university, and amongst the leading universities in the world. The University is among Australia’s 6 sandstone universities – these are informally categorized group of Australia’s oldest tertiary education institutions that were founded in the colonial era, their sandstone moniker derived from having buildings constructed primarily of sandstones.

 

The University is organized into nine faculties and university schools, offering a range of programmes such as bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees. The main campus of the university has consistently been ranked in the top 10 of the world’s most beautiful universities by publications like the Daily Telegraph and the Huffington Post.

 

The main campus is also the epicentre of the student’s life. It features three buildings owned by the student union – Wentworth, Manning and Holme Buildings. They provide most of the students’ recreational facilities, bars, catering and exhibition centres.

 

The University has satellite campuses which include the Mallet Street Campus, Cumberland Campus, Rozelle Campus, Camden Campus, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and the Sydney Dental Hospital. The university also uses a number of other facilities for its teaching activities – One Tree Island, Taylors College, Arthursleigh, The Molonglo Observatory, The IA Watson Grains Research Center and the Sydney Medical School.

 

The University of Sydney is consistently placed among the top 50 universities in the world. It is currently ranked 42nd in the QS Global World Rankings. It has a very huge student population of about 61,309 (35, 351 undergraduates and 25, 958 postgraduate students).

Eligibility

  • Be a commencing or enrolled international student.
  • Outstanding academic achievement and research potential.
  • Have an unconditional offer of admission.
