Distance Learning Scholarship for African Students at London South Bank University

Fully-funded distance learning scholarships are available in 2010 for student from East and Southern African Commonwealth countries to study their Masters of Science (MSc) in Education for Sustainability at London South Bank University. 15 scholarships will be awarded to students for 2010.

Successful candidates will study at London South Bank University, UK through online distance learning.

What course of study is Applicable?
MSc in Education for Sustainability.

Intending Postgraduate Students who are African Commonwealth Citizens living and working in the following countries are eligible to apply: Botswana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Zambia. Applications from women, who are underrepresented in leadership roles are give particularly preference.

What is the Scholarship WORTH?
Funding will cover all the costs of tutoring, assessment, study guides and readers, together with a travel grant for attendance at the residential week.

Who is ELIGIBLE to APPLY?
To be eligible to apply for the scholarship;
* you must be an African Commonwealth citizen working in Botswana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda or Zambia.
* you must have a first degree.
* you must have the written English skills for a Masters programme.
* you must be involved in the field of education in the broadest terms e.g. advocacy/ communication / training / teaching / marketing etc.
* you should be in a leadership position or possess leadership potentials.
* you should be committed to making a difference within your workplace and your country.
* you should understand the requirements and challenges of a distance learning course. See Who is online distance learning education for? And Who is distance learning not for?
* you must have regular, reliable and easy access to a computer with email and internet facilities.
* you should be able to attend the Introductory Residential Week in Nairobi in October 2010 exact dates to be confirmed.
* you should have the support of your employer.
* you should have the support of your family.
Important Note: You cannot be enrolled on another post graduate course during the time of the scholarship.
