The deadlines for the following international scholarships for African and developing countries are fast approaching. Below is a list of scholarships with application deadline in September 2018.

95 Rhodes Trust Scholarships for African/International Students to Study at University of Oxford

Application Deadline for West Africa only: 30th September

The Rhodes Trust offers Postgraduate Scholarship Programme for international students from select countries including Africans, to study at University of Oxford (See country list in link)

Czech Government Scholarships for Students from Developing Countries – Undergraduate, Masters and Doctorate

Application Deadline: 30th September

The Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport offers five scholarships for developing countries. Applications for these scholarships are open to all students from developing countries and/or countries going through a process of political and economic transition.

Stanford University Africa MBA Fellowship for African Students (Fully-funded)

Application Deadline: 18th September

Stanford university is awarding MBA Fellowships to citizens of African countries who desire to obtain an MBA at Stanford University and afterwards return for two (2) years to contribute to the continent’s development.

Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) Masters Scholarships for African Students at University of Oxford

Schwarzman Scholars Fully-funded Masters Scholarship for International Students – China

University of Essex Africa Scholarship Programme for Masters Studies

Margaret McNamara Educational Grants (MMEG) for African Women – South Africa

Application Deadline: 13th September

Margaret McNamara Education grants are awarded to women from developing and middle-income countries who, upon obtainment of their degree, intend to return to or remain in their countries, or other developing countries, and work to improve the lives of women and/or children.

OWSD Elsevier Foundation Awards for Early-Career Women Scientists in Developing Countries

Application Deadline: 23rd September

Launched by The Elsevier Foundation, TWAS and OWSD, the Awards reward and encourage women working and living in developing countries in the early stages of their scientific careers. Awardees must have made a demonstrable impact on the research environment both at a regional and international level

Heinrich Boll Foundation Scholarships for International Students, Germany – undergraduate, Masters & PhD

Application Deadline: 1st September

The Heinrich Böll Foundation grants scholarships to approximately 1,000 undergraduates, graduates, and doctoral students of all subjects and nationalities per year, who are pursuing their degree at universities, universities of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschulen’), or universities of the arts (‘Kunsthochschulen’) in Germany.

Austrian Government Scholarships for International Students (Undergraduate, Masters & PhD Research Grant)

Application Deadline: 1st September

Applications are accepted for the Scholarship Foundation of the Republic of Austria for grants and research promotion for Undergraduate, Masters & PhD students. Scholarships are also awarded for research periods at scientific research institutions in Austria (e.g. universities, Austrian Academy of Sciences, National Library, National Archive).

West African Research Association (WARA) Travel Grants for African Scholars

Application Deadline: 15th September

The WARC Travel Grant programme promotes intra-African cooperation and exchange among researchers and institutions by providing support to African scholars and graduate students for research visits to other institutions on the continent.

Austrian Government OeAD Ernst Mach Follow-up Grants for Developing Countries 

Application Deadline: 1st September

Applications are open to postdocs who are pursuing research or teaching at a higher education institution/university in a Non-European developing country and who were in receipt of a grant in Austria which was administered by the OeAD-GmbH (formerly ÖAD).

The MasterCard Foundation offers a full scholarship to students who have applied for and been admitted to one of the following Undergraduate and Masters study programmes at the University of Pretoria.

Princeton Arts Fellowships for Early-Career Artist(e)s

Knight-Hennessy Scholars Programme at Stanford University for High-Achieving Students

The Knight-Hennessy Scholars programme will annually identify a group of 100 high-achieving students from around the world with demonstrated leadership and civic commitment to receive full funding to pursue a wide-ranging graduate education at Stanford, with the goal of developing a new generation of global leaders. The Knight-Hennessy Scholars is the largest fully endowed scholars program in the world.

Commonwealth Government University of Newcastle Scholarships for Masters & PhD Students

The University of Newcastle Australia is offering university and Commonwealth government scholarships for Research Masters & PhD degree for international students.

Switzerland- Nestle MBA Scholarships for Women in Developing Countries

Application Deadline: 30th September

The Nestlé Scholarship for Women was first awarded in 1997 and was initiated by a group of IMD- Switzerland- MBA (Masters in Business Administration) participants who desired to encourage women to take the MBA courses. Preference are given to women from developing countries including but not limited to African female Students.
CHF 25,000 in scholarship award will be given to the female scholarship winner(s).

DAAD Postdoctoral Fellowship at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) at Tanzania
