Tell Me About The University of York Great Scholarship:
In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of York is offering eight scholarships to students from China, Greece, Indonesia, Malaysia (Justice and Law), Nigeria, Thailand, and Vietnam applying for a variety of one-year postgraduate taught courses. The GREAT Scholarships 2025 programme supports international postgraduate students in accessing world-class UK higher education opportunities. Each scholarship provides financial support of £10,000 as a tuition fee deduction. Applicants will be assessed based on a written application and prior academic merit, with strong preference given to those with outstanding academic records (for example, a UK first-class degree or equivalent).

Which Fields are Eligible?
The University of York GREAT Scholarship is open to applicants from most postgraduate taught courses for China, Nigeria, and Vietnam. Applicants from Malaysia are only eligible for the following postgraduate Law programmes:
- LLM Law
- LLM Art Law
- LLM International Corporate and Commercial Law
- LLM International Human Rights Law and Practice
- LLM Legal and Political Theory
- LLM International Law and Practice
- LLM Professional Legal Practice (SQE1 & SQE2)
- MA Applied Human Rights
- LLM International Business Law and Practice
Courses not eligible include those from:
- Hull York Medical School
- International Pathway College
- Distance/online learning
- Part-time courses
- Kaplan International College London
- MA Public Policy (Mundus MAPP)
- CASPPER
- Masters courses longer than one year

Who can Apply for the University of York Great Scholarship?
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of China, Greece, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, or Vietnam
- Be paying fees at the overseas fee rate (any fee assessments must be completed by 16 May 2025)
- Have met any language condition of their offer by 16 May 2025
- Hold a conditional or unconditional offer to study a one-year postgraduate taught course at the University of York by 16 May 2025 (they do not need to have accepted the offer)
Applicants are not eligible if:
- They hold a 100% tuition fee scholarship or are fully sponsored
- They are current students of the University of York (who began in a previous year)
How are Applicants Selected?
This is a competitive process. Applicants will be assessed based on a written application and prior academic merit, with strong preference given to those with the strongest academic records. A panel of senior staff from the University will select the successful applicants.
