The DAAD Young Ambassadors Programme is a one‑year honorary appointment for motivated students and young professionals from South Asia who have studied or researched in Germany. Ambassadors share their personal experiences to inspire others to explore study and research opportunities in Germany, through presentations, events, and peer‑to‑peer guidance.
Which Fields are Eligible
This is not a scholarship for study in Germany. Instead, it is an outreach programme open to those with prior German academic experience. Activities include:
- Presentations about studying in Germany
- Events at universities or communities
- Peer Guidance for prospective students
- Sharing Experiences of German higher education

Who Can Apply
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, or Sri Lanka.
- Have studied, researched, or be currently studying/researching at a German university or research institution.
- Be below 32 years of age on 1 January 2027.
- Be enthusiastic about promoting Germany as a study destination.
- Be willing to attend the online training workshop in November 2026.
How Are Ambassadors Selected
- Based on prior German academic experience.
- Ability to communicate and inspire peers.
- Commitment to organising events and presentations.
- Enthusiasm for promoting German higher education.
Which Countries are Eligible
- India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka.
- ⚠️ Applicants from Pakistan, Afghanistan, or other countries are not eligible under this regional call.
Where Will the Programme Be Taken
- South Asia (home countries of selected Ambassadors), with online training hosted by DAAD.
How Many Ambassadors
- Not specified; selected competitively each year.
