Tell Me About The WACSI Next Generation Internship:

The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) is inviting applications for the 2025 Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP), a six-month fully funded internship designed for young West Africans eager to gain practical experience in civil society work. Running from July to December 2025 in Accra, Ghana, the programme targets early career professionals and fresh graduates who are passionate about civic engagement and sustainable development in West Africa. Interns will work closely with WACSI’s teams in Capacity Development, Policy Influencing and Advocacy, and Knowledge Management, receiving mentorship, professional training, and exposure to real-world development initiatives.

Which Fields are Eligible?

International affairs, political science, public policy, law, development studies, or related fields.

Who can Apply For The WACSI Next Generation Internship?

Applicants must be young nationals from The Gambia, Liberia, or Burkina Faso with 0–3 years of experience. They should hold at least a first degree in a relevant field and demonstrate strong research and communication skills, an interest in civil society, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet research. Bilingual skills in English and French/Portuguese are an added advantage.

How are Applicants Selected?

Preference is given to applicants with high proficiency in English, French, or Portuguese, and working knowledge of another language. Selected applicants must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and in multicultural environments, and a willingness to learn and take initiative.
