Tell Me About The Scholarship:
The IHE Delft Water and Development Partnership Programme, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, offers scholarships to strengthen capacity and nurture networks of water professionals in Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The scholarships support students pursuing the MSc in Water and Sustainable Development at IHE Delft.

Who can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be nationals of eligible SIDS countries (see list below).
- Have academic admission to the MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development.
- Live and/or work in one of the eligible countries.
- Agree to conduct MSc research in their home country/region, linked to programme-supported projects.
- Actively participate in seminars organized by the programme’s learning networks.
- Confirm return to their country of origin or another priority country after studies.
- Provide an employer statement (as one of two recommendation letters) confirming:
- How the applicant’s skills will benefit the organization.
- That the applicant will return after completing studies.
- Any involvement in programme-funded projects.

Belize, Cabo Verde, Comoros, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Grenada, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Kiribati, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Micronesia (Federated States of), Montserrat, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Samoa, Sao Tome & Principe, Solomon Islands, Suriname, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.
How are Candidates Selected?
- Strong priority to female candidates.
- Strong motivation (5 motivation questions in application).
- Strong academic background.
- Preference for candidates with relevant work experience.
- Priority to candidates able to arrange co-funding from other sources.
What is the Benefit of the Scholarship?
- Full scholarships: Tuition, insurance, international travel, and €1,220 monthly allowance for living and accommodation.
- Partial scholarships: Tuition support combined with other funding sources.
How Long Will the Scholarship Last?
- Duration of the MSc Programme (2 years).
Required Documents:
- Admission letter to MSc Programme.
- Two recommendation letters (one must be employer statement).
- Proof of nationality from eligible country.
- English language test results (must be submitted before 1 June 2026).
How to Apply:
You do not have to complete a separate application form to apply for this scholarship. If you are a national from one of the eligible countries and meet the eligibility criteria, you will automatically be considered for the scholarship after you have applied for admission and after you have received your academic admission letter. With regard to the limited budget and number of scholarships available, we advise you to apply for other scholarships for which you are eligible as well, also for scholarships which cover part of the total cost of the programme. Applicants who are eligible for the Rabbani scholarship are advised to apply for this scholarship as well.
If you are from one of these countries and interested in studying at IHE Delft, we advise you to apply for admission as soon as possible. We furthermore advise you to brush up your English and, if required, timely sign up for an English language test, as this is a requirement* for final admission and scholarship eligibility.
If no sufficient English test results are received before 1 June 2026, you will not be eligible for the scholarship.
