Funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the IHE Delft Water and Development Partnership Programme offers scholarships to strengthen capacity and nurture networks of water professionals in the Sahel, Middle East, and Horn of Africa regions. The scholarships support students pursuing the MSc in Water and Sustainable Development at IHE Delft.

  • MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development (regular or research variant).

Who can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be nationals of eligible countries:
    • Middle East: Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Yemen
    • Horn of Africa: Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda
    • Sahel: Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Nigeria
  • Have academic admission to the MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development.
  • Live and/or work in one of the eligible countries.
  • Agree to conduct MSc research in their home country/region, linked to programme-supported projects.
  • Actively participate in seminars organized by the programme’s learning networks.
  • Confirm return to their country of origin or another priority country after studies.
  • Provide an employer statement (as one of two recommendation letters) confirming:
    • How the applicant’s skills will benefit the organization.
    • That the applicant will return after completing studies.
    • Any involvement in programme-funded projects.

  • Full scholarships: Tuition, insurance, international travel, and €1,220 monthly allowance for living and accommodation.
  • Partial scholarships: Tuition support combined with other funding sources.

How Long Will the Scholarship Last?

  • Duration of the MSc Programme (2 years).

Required Documents:

  • Admission letter to MSc Programme.
  • Two recommendation letters (one must be employer statement).
  • Proof of nationality from eligible country.
  • English language test results (must be submitted before 1 June 2026).
    • Exemptions: Applicants from Kenya, Nigeria, and Uganda do not need to submit English test scores.

How to Apply:

  1. Apply for admission to the MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development at IHE Delft.
  2. If admitted, you are automatically considered for the scholarship (no separate form required).
  3. Ensure English test results are submitted before 1 June 2026 (unless exempt).
