The UICC Technical Fellowships (formerly ICRETT, launched in 1976) provide cancer professionals with opportunities to gain new knowledge, skills, and techniques in cancer control through short international visits lasting two weeks to two months.

The programme emphasizes public health, prevention, early detection, equitable treatment access, and palliative care, with a special focus in 2026 on cervical cancer and HPV vaccination scale-up.

Objectives:

  • Knowledge exchange in cancer control.
  • Capacity building for individuals and their home institutions.
  • Networking among cancer control professionals worldwide.

Who can Apply?

Eligible candidates include:

  • Public health professionals (epidemiologists, health educators, social workers, nutritionists, administrators).
  • Cancer researchers (translational, clinical, implementation).
  • Clinicians, nurses, pathologists.
  • Applicants must:
    • Hold at least a Master’s degree (or equivalent training).
    • Have five years’ experience in cancer-related work.
    • Be medical doctors with board certification (or within one year of certification).
    • Registered nurses with RN qualification are eligible.
  • Not eligible: Medical and PhD students.

How are Candidates Selected?

  • Based on academic/professional background, motivation, and alignment with UICC priorities.
  • Preference for projects in public health, prevention, early detection, equitable treatment, and palliative care.
  • Applications aligned with UICC’s Business Plan 2028 (women’s cancers, lung cancer, people-centred care) are prioritized.

  • All countries worldwide.
  • Special sub-programmes:
    • Bourse pour l’Afrique Francophone (applications in French).
    • Becas para América Latina (applications in Spanish).

    • Hospital General Universitario de Elche, Spain.

How Many Awards?
