The DAFI- (Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative Fund) is an earmarked voluntary Fund donated to UNHCR by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal government of Germany. Through the dedicated support of the German Government and additional private donors, the program has supported over 12,000 young refugees since 1992. The purpose of the DAFI Programme is to maintain and strengthen the level of capacity of refugees, enabling them to become more self-reliant and to actively contribute to the development of both refugee and host communities. More generally, the DAFI Program aims to encourage the development of qualified human resources who contribute to their family and host or home country communities’ self-reliance, thereby supporting greater peace and stability in the region. Eligibility Criteria Also, to be eligible for the UNHCR Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative 2024 Scholarship Program Applicants must meet the following requirements: Be currently living as a refugee in Uganda and officially registered with both OPM Uganda and UNHCR-Uganda; Be between 18-35 years old as of 1st January 2024 (applicants must be born no earlier than 1st January 1989 and no later than 1st January 2006); Have completed secondary school. They must also be in possession of their official original Pass slips or their equivalents i.e. Diploma d’etat, University diplomas, Higher Education Access Certificate, etc. (if applicable) at the time of application; Have a recognized DIT Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) certificate will be considered for TVET courses.
