International Scholarships to Study Humanities Courses 2026/2027

The Princeton Society of Fellows, an interdisciplinary group of scholars in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, invites applications for the fellowship competition. Application Deadline: 3rd August 2021 (11:59 p.m. EST) Eligible Countries: International To be taken at (country): USA Field of Research: Human and Allied Social Science. Candidates will pursue research and teach half-time in the following areas: OPEN discipline; Humanistic Studies; LGBT Studies; Race and Ethnicity Studies. Type: Fellowship, Postdoctoral About the Award: Three to five postdoctoral fellows are appointed each year for three-year terms in residence to pursue research and teach half-time in their academic host department, the Program in Humanistic Studies, or other university programs.In addition, the fellowships carry with them an appointment as lecturer in the fellow's host department. Fellows are provided with a competitive salary, benefits, a $5,000 research account, access to university grants, a shared office, a desktop computer and other resources. Fellows are expected to reside in or near Princeton during the academic year in order to attend weekly seminars and participate fully in the intellectual life of the Society. Eligibility: PhD degree requirements. Please note the Society's dates of degree eligibility. These are firm dates with no exceptions: a) Candidates already holding the PhD degree at time of application: Applicants already holding the Ph.D. degree at time of application must have received their degree between January 1, 2020 and August 3, 2021. Priority will be given to applicants with no more than one year of research-only funding past the Ph.D. degree. b) Candidates who are ABD (All But Dissertation) at time of application: Applicants who do not meet the August 3, 2021, deadline for receipt of their Ph.D. but are expected to have fulfilled all conditions for the degree, including defense and filing of dissertation, by June 15, 2022, may still apply for a postdoctoral fellowship provided they have completed a substantial portion of their dissertation (at least half). Fellowships will be awarded to candidates at the beginning of their academic careers. Candidates must have already demonstrated outstanding scholarly achievement and excellence in teaching. Their work should also show evidence of unusual promise. Society is particularly interested in fostering innovative interdisciplinary approaches in the humanities and social sciences.US citizens and non-US citizens, regardless of race, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability, are eligible to apply.
