The African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI) is accepting applications for the African Phosphorus Fellowship Award 2026. This fellowship supports early-career scientists working on phosphorus management in Africa’s field or tree crop agroecosystems.

The award supports innovative scientific programs that improve phosphorus (P) management in Africa’s field or tree crop agroecosystems.
Which Fields are Eligible?
Proposals must focus on phosphorus management and may integrate at least one of APNI’s priority topics:
- 4R Nutrient Stewardship – Matching crop growth dynamics with P applications (source, rate, time, placement).
- Carbon Farming – Biomass turnover and P applications.
- Soil Health – Residue management, innovative P use, cropping diversification, no-till systems, high P-fixing soils.
- Precision Farming – Addressing P variability at field scale.

Who can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be full-time scientists at an African NARES institution or university.
- Hold a Ph.D. (postdoctoral scientists eligible).

- Female scientists are especially encouraged to apply.
