University of Manchester
The University of Manchester is a public research institution located in the north of England and is considered to be one of the largest universities in the United Kingdom. It has a staff strength of 10,000, and a student population of 38,000 (local) with almost 9,000 international students currently enrolled in several degree programmes.
The University is well known for its excellent academic and research capabilities, which also earned it a seat in the Russell Group.
In addition to its many achievements, the University of Manchester had its hands in the grooming of 25 Nobel Prize winners which were both students and former staff members. The school also revealed that over 91% of its graduates either get instant employment from reputable corporations or go further to acquire higher degrees.
In the Shanghai Jiao Tong Academic Ranking of World Universities, the University of Manchester currently occupies the 33rd position in the world, and sixth in the United Kingdom.
The University’s curriculum and methods offer a range of opportunities for intellectually curious students, along with exposure to a vast network of ambitious individuals. The 25 Nobel Prize winners (three from Economics, three from Medicine/psychology, nine from chemistry, and ten from physics), are proof of the University’s dedication to its students.
International students also have a particular spot in the heart of the institution. There’s a team of dedicated staff on standby to offer a range of services upon their arrival. Some of these services include a warm welcome, orientation classes to help the students quickly get acquainted with life in the UK, advice about visa information or immigration, English language development, or touring the UK in your spare time.
There is also a full range on-campus health facility in the University of Manchester, equipped with professional doctors, dentists, and nurses. All students of the institution have complete access to the University’s health care facility, and the National Health Service covers most of the medical bills for full-timers.
