The Gauteng Department of Social Development offers exciting opportunities to suitable candidates for potential placement in our 2025 internship programme. #8. Fully Funded University of Oxford Global UK Rhodes Scholarship 2025 for any Country/Region | How to Apply

The University of Oxford Rhodes Scholarship 2025 is now accepting applications from qualified applicants who wish to attend Oxford University in the United Kingdom.

The fully-funded Rhodes Trust Scholarship provides successful applicants with a living stipend of £19,800 annually throughout their time studying in the UK, in addition to a full tuition waiver.

In addition, the University of Oxford Rhodes Scholarship offers health insurance and a settling allowance. In addition, it includes two economy tickets to and from the UK plus the cost of a visa.

2025 British Council 90th Anniversary Research Fellowships at the University of Edinburgh for Developing Countries Including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, and More

To mark its 90th anniversary, the British Council has launched a prestigious research fellowship programme in partnership with the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) at the University of Edinburgh. This unique initiative offers two fully funded 12-month postdoctoral fellowships to exceptional early-career researchers from ODA-recipient countries where the British Council operates — including Zambia, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and many others.

This is part of a three-year initiative (2025–2027), and the upcoming cohort will begin their fellowships in January 2026.

#10. Startup Innovation Challenge / Hackathon 2025 for Startups, SMEs, Tech Innovators, and Entrepreneurs across Nigeria (Over ₦100 million award)

The Startup Innovation Challenge / Hackathon 2025 is an online hackathon and business growth experience designed for startups, SMEs, tech innovators, and entrepreneurs across Nigeria and Africa. With over ₦100 million worth of prizes, including cash, AWS credits, mentorship, and business support, the program aims to empower tech-enabled startups by providing funding, mentorship, visibility, and the tools needed to build impactful solutions. Participants also gain access to a free AWS-powered environment to build during the hackathon, especially those at the ideation stage.

#11. CNN is Offering a Fully Funded 2025 Training Program for Emerging Storytellers from the Global South

The Voices from the South: Storytelling for Impact program by CNN Academy is a media training initiative designed to empower emerging journalists and storytellers from the Global South. Supported by the Gates Foundation, the program equips early-career content creators with tools to tell urgent, human-centered health stories that can drive awareness and action. Participants receive training in storytelling, global health reporting, and mobile journalism, culminating in the production of a final story, with select pieces featured on CNN platforms.

#12. British Council 90th Anniversary Research Fellowships at the University of Edinburgh For Researchers

When is the Application Deadline? The application deadline is 28 July 2025 at 23:59 UK time.

The British Council 90th Anniversary Research Fellowships are part of a partnership between the British Council and the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) at the University of Edinburgh. These fellowships support international early-career postdoctoral researchers from ODA-recipient countries, enabling them to conduct research aligned with the British Council’s vision of promoting peace and prosperity through global connections and understanding. 

Fellows spend ten months at IASH followed by up to two months in their home countries engaging in knowledge exchange with the British Council. The fellowship includes a monthly bursary, travel expenses, access to dedicated office space, library resources, academic mentoring, and opportunities for networking and professional development.

The Laura Bassi Scholarship was established in 2018 to support postgraduates and early-career academics researching underexplored or neglected topics within any academic discipline. Rather than a cash prize, the award offers editorial assistance to help scholars prepare their work for publication.

#15. N10.5 Million To Be Won In The Heirs Insurance Essay Championship 2025 For Secondary School Children and Teachers In Nigeria

When is the Application Deadline? The application deadline is July 8, 2025.

The Heirs Insurance Essay Championship is an annual competition organized by Heirs Insurance to showcase the creativity and talent of children across Nigeria. It is open to students in Junior Secondary School (JSS1 to JSS3). The competition encourages young people to explore the value of insurance in everyday life. 

For 2025, the essay topic is “The Role of Insurance in Keeping Families Safe and Secure.” The championship also includes a Teachers’ Insurance Awareness Prize, which recognizes and rewards teachers who promote insurance education in their schools or communities.

The Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize for Journalism is an annual €20,000 award established by the European Parliament to honour exceptional investigative journalism that promotes and defends the core values of the European Union, such as democracy, human dignity, freedom, the rule of law, and human rights. It commemorates Daphne Caruana Galizia, the Maltese journalist and anti-corruption activist assassinated in 2017.

#17. Hungary National Higher Education Scholarship for 2025–2026 at the University of Szeged
