The Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize for Journalism is an annual €20,000 award established by the European Parliament to honour exceptional investigative journalism that promotes and defends the core values of the European Union, such as democracy, human dignity, freedom, the rule of law, and human rights. It commemorates Daphne Caruana Galizia, the Maltese journalist and anti-corruption activist assassinated in 2017.

How are Applicants Selected?

Journalistic work must be published or broadcast in any of the 27 EU member states.
Applicants may be of any nationality.
Where will the Award be Taken?
The award ceremony will take place mid-October 2025 in the European Parliament, commemorating the anniversary of Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination on 16 October 2017.
