Tell Me About The African Investigative Journalism Conference Fellowships:

The African Investigative Journalism Conference (AIJC) is offering fellowships for its 2025 edition, scheduled to take place at Wits University in Johannesburg from 5 to 7 November 2025. The AIJC 2025 Fellowship is designed to support two categories of journalists: early-career journalists under the age of 30 with five or fewer years of experience, and mid-career journalists with five or more years of experience. Freelance journalists are also encouraged to apply. The fellowship will cover major travel costs, including return flights, shuttles, accommodation, conference registration fees, and meals during the conference. In return, selected fellows must produce and publish at least one investigative journalism piece inspired by the conference content within three months of its conclusion.

Who can Apply For The African Investigative Journalism Conference Fellowships?

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Practicing journalists under the age of 30 with five or fewer years of experience (early-career track)
  • Journalists with five or more years of experience (mid-career track)
  • Freelance journalists are welcome to apply
  • Applicants must hold a valid passport (valid for at least six months beyond the conference dates)
  • Must commit to producing at least one investigative piece after attending the conference
