Tell Me About The Bentham-Moxon Trust B.A. Krukoff Fellowship Bursary:
This MSc in Plant and Fungal Taxonomy, Diversity and Conservation partnership between Kew and Queen Mary University of London trains the next generation of scientists ready to describe, understand and conserve global biodiversity.
Students on this one-year course will develop their plant and fungal identification skills, as well as a thorough grounding in molecular systematics, evolutionary biology, and conservation policy, theory and practice.

Who can Apply For The Bentham-Moxon Trust B.A. Krukoff Fellowship Bursary?
Applicants are to meet the follwoimg criteria:
- Be with the highest level of education below a PhD
- Be able to illustrate that they can meet the university conditions of entry onto the MSc in their application, and gain an unconditional offer by April 2025. You should not apply for a university place on the MSc until the bursary has been awarded to you. - Demonstrate their experience in Tropical African systematic botany*, as one of the conditions of the bursary is that the MSc research project must have a focus on the systematics of tropical African botany.
- Demonstrates an interest in systematic botany that aligns with Kew’s Accelerated Taxonomy Priority as detailed in the Kew Science Strategy 2021-2025: https://bit.ly/3ZGeg4x
- Demonstrate how they will continue to work and have an impact in Tropical African Botany*. Priority will be given to the applicant who demonstrates the potential to have the greatest impact in tropical African botany after the course. In this context, we invite applications from those who hold nationality, live, work, or have close connections with tropical Africa.

What is the Benefit of the Award?
Additionally, applicants are to benefit the following:
- A fully funded bursary is provided for a student to undertake the MSc course.
- The bursary is provided by the Bentham-Moxon Trust to support a student focusing their MSc research project on Tropical African Botany.
- The bursary includes £22,000 for a monthly stipend to cover accommodation, subsistence, and daily travel allowance.
- Costs associated with the field trip are also covered by the bursary.
- Up to £5,000 is available for visa application costs and the UK Healthcare surcharge fee (as specified on the UK Government website).
- The bursary also covers travel to and from the student’s home town/country at the beginning and end of the course.
- Relevant tuition fees will be fully covered by the Trust in addition to the student allocation.
