For people who applied for a study permit on or before October 7, 2022, there is a temporary policy in place. The only students who are currently permitted to work more than 20 hours per week outside of school are those who will be there until December 31, 2023.

4. Can you change schools or programs once in Canada? 

You can switch your program or school once you’ve arrived in Canada. Note that you cannot postpone your studies to start working later. It was explained in Number 2 above If you have completely moved schools, you must notify IRCC through your portal.

Your school must authorize any delays in starting your program and provide justification for them. This is significant since you must be enrolled and actively taking classes at all times if you are a foreign student. You may, however, request a leave of absence from school for up to 150 days.

5. Recognize when to prolong, renew, or modify your status. 

This is quite crucial. Some students might need to update their status in Canada, extend their study permits, or renew their passports and visas. Therefore, always be aware of the dates that your visa or permit expires.

According to the law, you must always be in good standing and apply for a visa or permission extension at least 30 days before your current status expires. This is done to give you time to renew your policy before the existing one expires or to ensure that your position is maintained.

Overall, keep in mind that, as a bearer of a study permit, you are a temporary resident. You still have a ways to go. Don’t allow a quick profit to deprive you of long-term gains. Although IRCC might not respond right away, they know where to wait for you. No need to ask me where.
