The Institute for Law & AI (LawAI) offers Seasonal Fellowships for law students, professionals, and academics to explore the intersection of AI, law, and policy. Fellows gain mentorship, career development, and opportunities to engage with policymakers, researchers, and leaders in the field.
Fellowship Tracks
- Winter Research Fellowship (EU Law)
- Focus: EU Law & the EU AI Act.
- Dates: 1 February – 9 April 2027 (option to extend to 14 May).
- Location: Cambridge, UK (in‑person encouraged).
- Convening Week: 8–12 February 2027.
- Benefits: £1,000/week + £7,000 relocation stipend.
- Summer Fellowship (US)
- Focus: US Law & Policy.
- Dates: 14 June – 20 August 2027.
- Location: Washington, DC (in‑person encouraged).
- Convening Week: 21–25 June 2027.
- Benefits: $2,000/week + $10,000 relocation stipend.
- Includes admission to the Summer Institute on Law & AI (July 2027).
- Summer Research Fellowship (Legal Frontiers)
- Focus: Law‑Following AI, Automated Governance, Rule of Law.
- Dates: 14 June – 20 August 2027.
- Location: Remote‑first, with optional in‑person participation (Cambridge, UK or Washington, DC).
- Convening Week: 21–25 June 2027.
- Benefits: $1,800/week (US) or £1,000/week (EU/UK).
Eligibility
- Graduate law students (LLM, JD), PhD candidates, postdocs, professionals, and academics.
- EU/US tracks require formal legal training in those jurisdictions.
- Legal Frontiers track welcomes interdisciplinary applicants (law, computer science, public policy, economics, history, psychology, physics).
- Full professional fluency in English required.
- Visa sponsorship available for eligible candidates.

How Long Will the Fellowships Last
