Sasol offers a range of bursary programmes to support South African youth in pursuing STEM and non‑STEM degrees at public universities. These bursaries provide comprehensive financial and developmental support, preparing students for careers in engineering, science, technology, and related fields.
Which Fields are Eligible
STEM Bursaries (Foundation & Mainstream):
- Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Mining)
- Data Science (Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics)
- Geology (to Honours level)
- Chemistry (to Honours level)

Non‑STEM Bursaries:
- Reserved for children of Sasol employees, Khanyisa shareholders, or fence‑line communities.
Postgraduate Bursaries (Mainstream):
- M.Sc., M.Eng., PhD in Chemical Engineering (fluid dynamics, reactor technology, thermodynamics, separation technology, modelling)
- M.Sc., PhD in Chemistry (spectroscopy, catalysis, polymer science, environmental science)

Who Can Apply
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens (by birth only).
- Be enrolled or applying for full‑time degree studies at a public South African university (UNISA excluded).
- Meet minimum academic requirements:
- B.Eng./B.Sc.Eng: Level 6 (70–79%) in Maths & Physical Science, Level 5 (60–69%) in English.
- B.Eng.Tech: Level 5 (60–69%) in Maths & Physical Science, Level 5 (60–69%) in English.
- Be under 25 years of age.
- Household income ≤ R800,000 per annum (Foundation bursaries).
- Maintain ≥ 60% average for university modules (2nd–4th year).
How Are Scholars Selected
- Based on academic performance, financial need, and community eligibility (for non‑STEM).
- Psychometric testing and interviews for shortlisted candidates.
- Final notifications by end of November 2026.
