The University of Warsaw offers admissions to its four doctoral schools: the Doctoral School of Social Sciences, the Doctoral School of Humanities, the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences, and the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School. The university is offering 325 places across 26 scientific disciplines for young researchers to pursue their doctoral studies. Enrolment is done through the electronic Internet Recruitment of Candidates (IRK) website.

Who can Apply for the University of Warsaw PhD Scholarships?

The eligibility criteria include:

  • Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields.
  • The program is open to all nationalities, but applicants must meet the specific entry requirements set by the respective doctoral schools. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields.

How are Applicants Selected?

  • Selection will be based on verification and evaluation of candidates’ documents (research project proposal and scientific achievements).
  • For the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences, there will be additional examinations.
  • For other schools, interviews will be conducted.
  • Results will be announced in July 2025.

What is the Benefit of the University of Warsaw PhD Scholarships?

The benefits include:

  • Full doctoral scholarships for the duration of the program.
  • A “Scholarship to Start” will be awarded to the top 20% of the best applicants in each discipline.
  • Doctoral candidates receive a scholarship amounting to PLN 4242 gross per month (before mid-term evaluation) and PLN 5340.90 gross (after mid-term evaluation).
  • Additional support for candidates with a disability certificate, which includes an extra PLN 1040.70 gross per month.
