The Wilson & Yinka Badejo Foundation offers two scholarship categories to support Nigerian students from less privileged backgrounds. These awards emphasize both academic excellence and personal character, while promoting fairness and equal opportunity.

Which Fields are Eligible?

  • All courses at public tertiary institutions in Nigeria (universities, polytechnics, colleges of education).
  • Special focus on children’s ministry work for the Nurturing Hearts Scholarship.

Who can Apply?

Basic Eligibility (applies to both scholarships):

  • Must demonstrate financial need (personal statement required).
  • Must show strong academic record and good character.
  • Must be enrolled or accepted at a public tertiary institution in Nigeria.
  • Students at private institutions are not eligible.
  • Previous beneficiaries who have received two or more awards from the foundation cannot reapply.
  • Applicants may apply for both scholarships but can only receive one award.

Legacy Scholarship:

  • Open to all Nigerian residents enrolled or admitted to public tertiary institutions.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 for current students.
  • JAMB admission letter required for newly admitted students.
  • Recommendation letter required if selected (from cleric, HOD, course adviser, or dean).
  • No age restriction.

Nurturing Hearts Scholarship (Females only):

  • For women aged 18–28.
  • Must be pursuing a degree, vocational training, or professional development in children’s ministry.
  • Must submit a 500–750 word essay on passion for children’s ministry and intended impact.
  • Must provide two recommendation letters (cleric, mentor, professor, or counsellor).
  • Renewable once.

How are Candidates Selected?

  • Based on financial need, academic excellence, personal character, and alignment with scholarship goals.
  • Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview with the scholarship board.

  • Nigeria only.

Where will the Scholarship be Taken?

  • At public tertiary institutions in Nigeria (including West African Theological Seminary and Life Theological Seminary, Ikorodu).
