The College of Nursing Research Excellence Award, administered by the Nursing Unit for Research and Scholarship Excellence (NURSE), recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated the highest level of excellence and impact in one of the College’s signature areas:
- Community‑Engaged Health and Nursing Research
- Health Equity Research
- Innovations in Health Systems and Education Research
Excellence is defined as rigorous, inclusive research that integrates diverse perspectives, disciplines, and methods to maximize societal impact.

Who can Apply?
- All College of Nursing faculty members are eligible.
- Self‑nominations are not accepted.
- Nominations are encouraged for individuals from equity groups (Indigenous ancestry, racialized groups, people living with disabilities).
How are Nominees Selected?
Criteria considered include:
- Advancement of nursing signature areas and profession.
- National/international recognition.
- Grants awarded as Nominated Principal Applicant.
- Peer‑reviewed publications.
- Promotion of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
- Collaborative practice and mentorship.
- Graduate student support.
- Knowledge mobilization beyond academia.
- Engagement with Indigenous communities and contributions to Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.

- Canada (University of Saskatchewan faculty only).

How Many Awards?
- One award annually (no obligation to award if no suitable nomination).

- $2,500 research award.

- Announcement on College website and social media.
- Name displayed on award plaque in the NURSE Project Planning Room.
How Long Will the Award Last?
- Annual award (one recipient per year).
Required Documents:
- Joint nomination letter (max 3 pages) summarizing research achievements and addressing criteria.
- Updated USask UnivRS curriculum vitae.
Nomination Process:
- Two nominators required:
- One must be a College of Nursing faculty member.
- Second can be from another USask unit, another institution, graduate student, alumni, community partner, Indigenous community, or industry partner.
- Nominators can only contribute to one nomination package.
- Submit nomination via the official online nomination link.

- 5 March 2026 – Nominations deadline
- 17 April 2026 – Nominees and winner notified
- 30 April 2026 – Award celebration registration deadline
