About the Internship
The Operations and Maintenance Technician role supports safe and efficient production operations. It also covers first-line maintenance on oil and gas wells, facilities, and equipment.
In addition, the position is field-based and follows a rotational assignment pattern. Selected candidates may work in onshore, swamp, or offshore environments, depending on operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Operate oil and gas facilities, wells, and associated assets in line with approved procedures and HSSE requirements.
- Execute routine and minor non-routine production operations, including equipment isolation, depressurisation, and reinstatement activities.
- Carry out preventive, predictive, corrective, and routine first-line maintenance on plant and process equipment.
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, diagnose, and rectify equipment and process faults to reduce downtime.
- Perform servicing, installation, commissioning, calibration, adjustment, and functional testing according to manuals and procedures.
- Monitor plant and equipment performance, collect field data, and validate production volumes.
- Respond to plant and facility upsets and implement approved corrective actions.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and instrument loop drawings.
- Participate in shutdowns, turnarounds, maintenance campaigns, and equipment overhauls.
- Ensure compliance with Permit-to-Work requirements, approved procedures, and HSSE standards.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must have at least two years of relevant experience in technical maintenance, field operations, and/or control room operations.
- Relevant experience may come from industrial, manufacturing, energy, oil and gas, or similar environments.
- Candidates should hold an OND/ND, Full Technological Certificate, Advanced Technical Diploma, or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline.
- Applicants must be ready to work on a rotational basis in onshore, swamp, and/or offshore locations.
- Relevant technical certification or professional qualification is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of upstream oil and gas production facilities is also an advantage.
Skills Preferred: Competence in relevant technical discipline (electrical/mechanical/instrumentation/electronics), equipment troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, Permit-to-Work and safe isolation practices, ability to interpret technical drawings, HSSE knowledge.
