Applications are now open for the FAWE Ghana / Mastercard Foundation Second Chance Bursary (2026/2027). This scholarship supports marginalized young people in Ghana to pursue STEM-related programmes at FAWE Ghana’s partner TVET institutions.


In total, 200 fully funded bursaries are available. Moreover, the programme reserves 80% of awards for female applicants and 20% for male applicants. A 5–15% allocation is also set aside for persons with disabilities, refugees, or internally displaced persons.

About this Scholarship

The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Ghana, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, is inviting applications for the third cohort of its Second Chance Pathways programme. The bursary supports access to tertiary education for marginalized young women and men across all 16 regions of Ghana.

Successful applicants will study STEM-related programmes at FAWE Ghana’s partner TVET institutions. The scholarship supports either 3-year Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes or 2-year Diploma programmes.

Level of Study: TVET Diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND)

Eligibility

To apply, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Have completed WASSCE or Certificate II and qualify for tertiary education
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be aged 15–25 at the time of application
  • Have already gained admission into one of FAWE Ghana’s eleven partner institutions
  • Be applying to study in Ghana

Eligible partner institutions include:

  • Accra Technical University
  • Bolgatanga Technical University
  • Cape Coast Technical University
  • Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University
  • Ho Technical University
  • Koforidua Technical University
  • Kumasi Technical University
  • Sunyani Technical University
  • Takoradi Technical University
  • Tamale Technical University
  • University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (USTED)

The programme strongly encourages applications from candidates who:

  • Are living with disability
  • Are refugees or internally displaced persons
  • Are orphaned or from single-parent households
  • Are living with or affected by family living with HIV/AIDS
  • Are experiencing extenuating financial difficulties

Please note these limits:

  • The programme does not support continuing students
  • Top-up programmes are not eligible
  • Degree programmes are not eligible
  • Students with conditional or probationary admission cannot apply
