About the Internship
The Senior Policy Analyst will conduct policy-relevant research on development cooperation, EU development finance, and related global development issues. The role also includes policy engagement with decision-makers, researchers, and practitioners.
Moreover, the successful candidate will help shape research agendas, produce publications, and support CGD Europe’s wider policy influence. The position requires independent project leadership and strong subject expertise.
Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality policy-relevant research on development cooperation, EU development finance, and related global development issues
- Undertake desk-based research and expert interviews
- Identify emerging policy challenges and develop research agendas
- Lead and contribute to research and policy papers, reports, blogs, and briefings
- Convene and facilitate discussions with policymakers, researchers, and practitioners
- Represent CGD at conferences, policy forums, and high-level meetings
- Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, international organisations, scholars, and funders
- Lead research projects from concept through publication and dissemination
- Manage research partnerships and collaborations
- Organise working groups, workshops, and policy roundtables
- Mentor and support junior research staff
Eligibility Requirements
- At least six years of experience conducting policy-relevant research and analysis on development policy and finance
- Demonstrated expertise in European development policy and/or EU development finance
- Experience leading research projects independently
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Skills Preferred: Excellent writing, analytical and communication skills; strong quantitative and qualitative research skills; ability to translate research into policy-relevant outputs and manage multiple priorities.
Level of Study: Postgraduate degree (Master’s, PhD, or equivalent) in economics, political science, international development, or related field
