Tell Me About The Role:

The African Centre for Cities (ACC) at the University of Cape Town (UCT) is recruiting a Project Coordinator (City Hall Fellowship) for a 12‑month contract (June 2026 – June 2027), with possible renewal. The role supports the African Mayoral Leadership Initiative (AMALI) Data Programme, coordinating the City Hall Fellowship and providing administrative support to the AMALI Data team.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate City Hall Fellowship:
    • Set up an advisory group of conveners of relevant master’s programmes.
    • Liaise with the AMALI team and partners.
    • Advertise, select, and place students in AMALI cities.
    • Organise logistics for 10‑week student placements.
    • Ensure high‑quality outputs for city leaders.
    • Document and promote the programme.
    • Report to ACC and funders.
  • Administrative Support for AMALI Data Programme:
    • Organise logistics for travel.
    • Manage office space.
    • Support Data Programme Lead and team members.

Requirements:

  • NQF 6 qualification in administration/project management (or equivalent).
  • 4 years’ relevant experience in administration/project management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent project/time management skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • High proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to work independently with good judgement.
  • Commitment to excellent service and attention to detail.

Advantageous:

  • Knowledge of urban issues and local government in Africa.
  • Fluency in French.
