Applications are open for 2026 for the Accelerating digital public infrastructure with safeguards course by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Academy. This free online course helps government implementers and digital practitioners build resilient, trust-based Digital Public Infrastructure using a Safeguards-by-Design framework.

The course runs online via Zoom from 28 July 2026 to 25 August 2026. It combines live instruction, simulations, self-learning, and a capstone project that leads to a national DPI strategy exercise.

About the Course

This instructor-led short course focuses on digital public infrastructure with safeguards. Specifically, it supports participants to apply a safeguards-by-design approach in national digital transformation work.

In addition, the course includes simulation-based learning and a capstone project. Participants work towards a national DPI strategy and present a “Ministerial Pitch” with feedback.

Selected participants can join at no cost. The course is funded by the Global Gateway initiative of the European Union. Moreover, participants who achieve more than a 70% overall score receive an ITU certificate.
