Duration: Variable; 8 weeks up to 12 months. Category I: at least 2 months up to 6 months. Category II: at least 2 months up to 12 months.
Compensation: 1,645 Swiss francs/month (Category I) or 2,170 Swiss francs/month (Category II) including local transportation allowance; travel reimbursement up to 1,500 Swiss francs for eligible interns

About the Internship
WIPO uses this internship roster to fill openings during 2026. The program helps interns complement their academic training and build professional skills in an international work environment.
The internships cover a wide range of functional areas. Depending on the hiring office, selected interns may support legal, technical, administrative, analytical, language, or communications work.
Internships cannot be carried out remotely. Terms of Reference are specified for each internship by the relevant hiring office.
Responsibilities
- Carry out tasks defined in the Terms of Reference set by the Hiring Office.
- Work on a full-time basis during the internship period.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be pursuing or have obtained a university degree.
- For candidates pursuing a first-level university degree, they must be in their third or fourth year of study and/or be enrolled in a program that requires an internship.
- Graduates may apply up to two years after completing their most recent university degree or postgraduate studies.
- Category I includes candidates pursuing a first-level university degree in their third or fourth year and/or needing an internship for degree requirements.
- Category I also includes candidates who obtained their first-level university degree less than two years before the internship application date.
- Category I further includes candidates pursuing an advanced university degree who have not completed coursework and the final thesis.
- Category II includes candidates pursuing an advanced university degree who have completed coursework but not the final thesis.
- Category II also includes candidates who obtained their most recent advanced university degree less than two years before the internship application date.
- Category II further includes candidates who obtained an advanced university degree more than two years ago and are currently enrolled in subsequent postgraduate studies.
- Internships at WIPO cannot be carried out remotely.
Skills Preferred: Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to adapt quickly to new systems and software; good analytical skills; good communication and interpersonal skills; working knowledge of English and/or French; for most internships, excellent knowledge and drafting skills in English are required; knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish is an advantage.
