The TWAS-CUI Postgraduate Fellowship Programme 2026 is open to young scientists from developing countries other than Pakistan who want to pursue a PhD in natural or eligible social sciences at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Pakistan. Importantly, the application deadline is 15 June 2026.
This fellowship supports postgraduate research for up to three years. In addition, CUI provides a monthly stipend to help cover living costs such as food, accommodation, and health insurance.

About TWAS-CUI Postgraduate Fellowship Programme
The TWAS-COMSATS University Islamabad Fellowship Programme offers postgraduate research fellowships to young scientists from developing countries other than Pakistan. Specifically, it is designed for candidates who wish to obtain their PhD in natural or social sciences.
Successful applicants will register for a PhD at CUI in Pakistan. Moreover, the fellowship is tenable at CUI campuses and runs for a maximum period of three years.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a national of a developing country other than Pakistan.
- Must not be on site in Pakistan.
- Must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in Pakistan or any developed country.
- Hold an MSc degree with research in a field of natural sciences.
- If applying in eligible social sciences, hold an MSc degree in a field of social sciences.
- Be a maximum age of 35 years by 31 December in the year of application.
- Be willing to register at CUI, Pakistan.
- Hold a Master’s degree or equivalent with thesis of 06 credit hours and no less than 3.0/4.0 CGPA or 60% marks, and without D grades throughout the academic career.
- Provide evidence of proficiency in English if medium of education was not English.
- Provide evidence of return to home country on completion of the fellowship.
What Fellows Receive: Monthly stipend covering living costs such as food, accommodation and health insurance.
Program Components Register for a PhD at CUI, Pakistan; apply online for admission through the CUI International Admissions Portal and select the option “CUI-TWAS fellowship”; apply via the TWAS online portal after receiving an Acceptance Letter from CUI; not take up other assignments during the fellowship period; be financially responsible for any accompanying family members and for any delay incurred in completing the fellowship.

First, applicants must apply online for admission through the CUI International Admissions Portal and select the option “CUI-TWAS fellowship”. After that, candidates need to obtain an Acceptance Letter from CUI.
Next, applicants should complete the TWAS online application through the official portal. Therefore, make sure all required documents are ready before submission.
