Tell Me About The Award:

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program is the U.S. Government’s flagship international educational exchange initiative. It provides Mozambican citizens the opportunity to pursue graduate study, research, and professional development in the United States. Administered by the U.S. Department of State and the Institute of International Education (IIE), the program covers up to two years of advanced graduate education, with priority given to Master’s candidates.

Who can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be citizens or permanent residents of Mozambique with a valid passport.
  • Hold at least the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree (minimum four years of study).
  • Final-year students may apply but must submit diploma and transcripts by August 2026.
  • Three-year degree holders must demonstrate 13 years of primary/secondary education.
  • Show strong English proficiency (TOEFL, GRE, GMAT as applicable).
  • Demonstrate leadership potential, motivation, and commitment to return to Mozambique after completion.
  • Not be previous Fulbright Student or Humphrey Program recipients (FLTA alumni may apply).
  • Not be current/recent employees of the U.S. Department of State.
  • Preferably have limited or no recent U.S. study experience.

Additional LTE (Long-Term English) Track Criteria:

  • Only Master’s candidates are eligible.
  • Not open to Ph.D., MBA, Law, or non-degree candidates.
  • TOEFL minimum: 72 (English/TEFL/Linguistics applicants must meet at least 72).
  • Dependents are not permitted during LTE training.

How Long Will the Award Last?

  • Master’s degree: Up to 2 years.
  • Ph.D. degree: Up to 2 years (additional funding required beyond this).
  • Non-degree research: 9–10 months (not renewable).

  2. Create a Slate user account and select the 2027–2028 Fulbright Foreign Student Program cycle.
  3. Upload digital copies of transcripts (all previous and in-progress coursework, with English translation).
  4. Upload copies of diplomas (Licenciatura, Master’s if applicable, with English translation).
  5. Request three recommendation letters (from teachers, professors, or employers; not friends or relatives).
  6. Submit application online before April 10, 2026.
