The Humboldt Research Fellowship supports highly qualified postdoctoral and experienced researchers from all countries (excluding Germany) to conduct independent research at a host institution in Germany. Fellows benefit from individual support, financial sponsorship, language courses, family allowances, and alumni programmes.

Who can Apply?
- Postdocs: Completed PhD within the last 4 years (or will complete before selection meeting). Must show publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Experienced researchers: Completed PhD within the last 12 years (or up to 16 years after a master’s if PhD not customary). Must show extensive publications and leadership roles.
- Applicants must not have received prior Humboldt sponsorship.
- Must secure a host institution in Germany with confirmation of research facilities.

How Many Awards?

What is the Benefit of the Award?
- Postdocs: €3,000/month + benefits.
- Experienced researchers: €3,600/month + benefits.
- Duration: 6–24 months (postdocs), 6–18 months (experienced researchers).
- Additional support:
- Family allowances.

- Alumni programmes (return fellowships, later visits).
How Long Will the Award Last?
