The GATE Institute at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, in partnership with Google DeepMind, is offering two fully funded AI Master’s Scholarships for the 2026–2027 academic year. These scholarships aim to support talented students pursuing advanced studies in artificial intelligence and related fields, equipping them with skills for careers in one of the fastest‑growing areas of science and technology.

Which Fields are Eligible?

Applicants must be admitted to one of the following Master’s programmes at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Information Retrieval & Knowledge Discovery
  • Big Data Technologies

Who can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be ordinarily resident in Bulgaria or another EU Member State.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum overall grade of 4.50.
  • Have a candidate‑student examination success rate of at least 4.50.
  • Apply for and be admitted to one of the eligible Master’s programmes.
  • Meet the scholarship’s financial eligibility criteria: household income per member must be below Bulgaria’s minimum salary level as of 1 January 2026.

How are Applicants Selected?

  • Applications reviewed by professors from the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics and GATE Institute representatives.
  • Selection based on:
    • Eligibility verification.
    • Academic performance.
    • Motivation letter and CV.
    • Financial eligibility.
  • Final decision: two scholars + one waitlist candidate by 31 October 2026.
