Tell Me About The Moving Minds Alliance 2025-2026 Research Fellowship Program:

The Moving Minds Alliance 2025-2026 Research Fellowship Program supports local researchers in the Global South to carry out studies focused on young children (aged 0-8 years) and their caregivers in emergency contexts, particularly in climate emergencies. Fellows join a global community of researchers advancing knowledge in early childhood development (ECD) under the guidance of the MMA Research Forum team. The program provides mentorship, knowledge-sharing opportunities, and dissemination platforms to amplify the research impact. Five fellows will be selected to conduct studies over a 12-month period, aligned with the theme: Early Childhood Development in Climate Emergencies.

Who can Apply For The Moving Minds Alliance 2025-2026 Research Fellowship Program?

Also, the eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • Applicants must be born into, live in, or have worked in countries affected by climate crises, particularly in the Global South.
  • Should have prior research experience, ideally suited for early-career researchers or those with experience in community projects or grassroots initiatives.
  • Must have strong connections with local communities or organizations serving young children, especially in ECD support or early learning.
  • Open to researchers from diverse nationalities and professional backgrounds, including NGOs and civil society organizations.

How are Applicants Selected?

  • Originality: How the research addresses gaps in ECD in climate emergencies.
  • Potential to inform programming and policy: Relevance across various contexts.
  • Alignment with thematic priorities, focusing on climate emergencies and young children (aged 0-8) and their caregivers.

Required Documents:

Applicants are also to submit the following: 

  • Research plan, including topic, location, target population, sample size, key research questions, methodology, and inclusion of voices of affected communities.
  • A brief CV (no more than two pages).

  • A one-time stipend of US $5,000 for research activities.
  • Participation in a global community of practice with researchers focusing on ECD in climate emergencies.

  • Dissemination of research findings through the MMA Network and Research Forum platforms.

How Long Will the Award Last?

  • Submit your application through the 2025-26 MMA Research Fellowship Application & Proposal Form by February 16, 2025.
  • Applications submitted via email will not be accepted.
  • Applications and Fellowship engagement will be conducted in English, though research can be completed in another language, with MMA supporting translation as needed.
