Tell Me About The World Health Organization Epidemiology Fellowship Program:

The Epidemiology Fellowship Programme (EpiFellows) is a capacity-building initiative by WHO for young epidemiologists in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR). This six-month fellowship aims to enhance participants’ skills, knowledge, and understanding of outbreak management at national, regional, and global levels. Fellows are assigned to WHO country offices in their home countries and engage in practical, hands-on assignments under the supervision of experienced WHO staff.

Who can Apply For The World Health Organization Epidemiology Fellowship Program?

Also, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates must be under 35 years old.
  • Must hold a postgraduate degree in public health, epidemiology, or outbreak management.
  • Must be a national of an Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) country: Afghanistan, Djibouti, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Somalia, Syria, Tunisia, or Yemen.
  • Proficiency in English is necessary; knowledge of French or Arabic is an asset.
  • Candidates must have at least two years of experience in outbreak management, health emergency management, or relevant research.

How are Applicants Selected?

  • Candidates are assessed based on WHOโ€™s global competencies: teamwork, communication skills, respect for cultural diversity, and ability to produce quality results.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, report drafting, and outbreak management.
  • Familiarity with computer programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical tools such as XLStat is advantageous.
