Tell Me About The Award:
The TWAS Research Professors in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) Programme provides research groups and scientific institutions located in LDCs with the opportunity to establish long-term links with TWAS members and TWAS Young Affiliates/Alumni. Appointed professors visit the host institution to assist in research activities, provide advanced training, deliver topical lectures, and help develop local scientific capacities.

Who can Apply?:
- Only TWAS Fellows and TWAS Young Affiliates/Alumni are eligible for appointment.
- Requests must be submitted by research groups or scientific institutions located in Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
How are Applicants Selected?:
Appointments are awarded based on institutional requests from LDCs matching with qualified TWAS members or Young Affiliates/Alumni to strengthen existing activities or establish new lines of research.

Least Developed Countries (LDCs): The United Nations has designated 44 countries as least developed.

Where will the Award be Taken?:
At research groups or scientific institutions in Least Developed Countries (LDCs)
How Many Awards?:
A number of appointments are offered annually (unspecified cohort capacity).
What is the Benefit of the Award:
- Economy class round-trip travel and additional travel expenses provided by TWAS.
- An honorarium provided by TWAS.
- Local living expenses covered by the host institution.
How Long Will the Award Last?:
- Appointment duration: 1 year
- Visit duration: Between two and four weeks
How to Apply:
Requests must be submitted by research groups and scientific institutions in LDCs via the official application guidelines.
- Note: Applicants may apply for only one programme per calendar year in the TWAS and OWSD portfolio.
