Who Can Apply for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Scholarship?
To be eligible for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be registered or accepted into a full-time doctoral program in year one or two.
- Have a field of study related to the humanities and social sciences or human sciences that is directly relevant to Canada’s future.
- Focus their doctoral work on at least one of the Foundation’s four themes:
- Human Rights and Dignity
- Responsible Citizenship
- Canada and the World
- People and their Natural Environment
- Be:
- A Canadian citizen studying at a Canadian or foreign institution, or
- A permanent resident of Canada, or
- A foreign national enrolled in a doctoral program at a Canadian institution.

The scholarship selection process will consider:
- Academic Excellence and Intellectual Curiosity: A strong academic record demonstrated by transcripts, publications, conference presentations, and a commitment to research excellence.
