The Blue Book Traineeship Programme is a prestigious five‑month paid internship offered by the European Commission (EC). It provides young graduates worldwide with hands‑on experience in EU policymaking and administration, professional skills development, and intercultural awareness. Trainees work in a multicultural environment across EC offices, executive agencies, Commissioners’ Cabinets, and the European External Action Service.

Which Fields are Eligible?

Two types of traineeships are available:

  • Administrative Traineeship – policy, administration, and project management.
  • Translation Traineeship – translation into your main/target language from two EU official languages.

  • Internship | Training | Paid Traineeship

Who can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Hold at least a 3‑year higher education degree (EQF level 6) or equivalent.
  • Have no prior work experience exceeding 6 weeks in any EU institution, body, or agency.
  • Demonstrate strong language skills:
    • Administrative traineeship: very good knowledge of two EU official languages (English, French, or German at C1/C2 + another at B2).
    • Non‑EU nationals: one procedural language at C1/C2.
    • Translation traineeship: ability to translate into your main language from two EU official languages (English, French, or German as one source language).

How are Applicants Selected?

  • Based on academic qualifications, language proficiency, and motivation.
  • Evaluation results published in candidate accounts.
  • Shortlisted candidates are invited to apply for specific traineeship positions.
