Every year, universities receive funding from the Commonwealth Department of Education and Training to give scholarships to both domestic and foreign students enrolled in higher degree research programs.
The Australian National University RTP Scholarship, the University Research Scholarship, and a few other centrally controlled scholarships are offered during the two annual central scholarship rounds that ANU currently holds.
Scholarships are given to the top-ranked candidates after a competitive ranking process, provided they demonstrate that they meet the requirements for merit-based selection. Additionally, the availability of a qualified supervisor, space, and resources in a field of study that is in line with the ANU research strategy must be confirmed.
