The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is hosting its annual essay competition to encourage critical thinking among secondary school students about Nigeria’s energy challenges. The 2026 topic is: “The Role of Renewable Energy in Improving Electricity Supply in Nigeria.”

  • Essays must meet the word count and submission requirements.

  • Nigeria only.

Where will the Competition be Taken?

  • Nationwide (entries submitted via email).

How Many Awards?

  • Top 3 students (plus their teachers and schools).
  • 10 runners-up students will receive consolation prizes.
