About the Award: Anglo American is recruiting for twenty (20) South African youth who wish to enroll for the Learnership Programme 2023 – 2025.
Anglo American is a global diversified mining business with portfolio of world-class mining operations.
Three-year Artisan Learnership Program is an enrichment program for the community and will enable you to develop skills with classroom and on-the-job/core training at Mogalakwena Mine.
This Program will enable you to maximize your potential along with a tailored plan to provide you with a future to make a difference.
As you progress through your Artisan learnership program, we will help you discover your real capability and develop your skills as an Artisan.

The learnership is available under two categories: Electrical (x9 posts) and Mechanical (x11 posts):
Engineering Learnerships (Mechanical) – Mogalakwena (Earthmoving & Diesel Mechanic, Boilermaker/ Plater, Rigger and Fitter
Three-year Learnership programme leading to the selected qualification as a qualified Artisan. There are eleven (11) opportunities under this programme, split as follows:
- Learnership Fitter x 3
- Learnership Boilermaker Plater x 3
- Learnership Rigger x 1
- Learnership Earthmoving Mechanic x 2
- Diesel Mechanic x 2
Engineering Learnership (Electrical) – Mogalakwena Mine (Electrician, Auto Electrician, Millwright and Control & Instrumentation)
Three-year Learnership programme leading to the selected qualification as a qualified Artisan. There are nine (9) opportunities under this programme, split as follows:
- Learnership Electrician x 2
- Learnership Measurement Control & Instrumentation Mechanician x 2
- Learnership Millwright x 4
- Learnership Auto Electrician x 1

Eligibility: To apply for these opportunities, you:
- Must be prepared to work on surface, open pit ‘dusty areas’.
- Work in accordance to work schedule of area and could possibly involve working shifts
- Must pass the relevant psychometric assessment
- Must have a medical certificate of fitness or able to obtain one
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills in English
- A valid South African Driver’s license will be advantageous
- Successful candidates will be required to complete background screening which may include a criminal check and validation of qualifications.
- Qualifications:
- Matric with Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy), Physical Science and English (all with minimum 40% pass), or
- N2 or higher with all subjects as per the specific Discipline Requirements or
- NCV Level – 4 in appropriate trade with all subjects passed with a minimum 40% pass
- Trade Test Requirements:
- A minimum of N2 Subjects/ certificate with applicable subjects for the relevant trade as specified
- Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Relevant Trade Theory
- Industrial Electronics, or Engineering Drawings or Plating Structural Drawings
- NCV Level – 4 in appropriate trade with all subjects passed with a minimum 40% pass
- Must be a South African Citizen
