Applications are open for the Halcyon Africa Innovation in Agriculture and Food Security Accelerator (2027). This program supports early-stage, impact-driven ventures across Sub-Saharan Africa that strengthen agriculture and food systems.


Selected ventures will join a hybrid program that combines virtual sessions with in-person residencies in Accra, Ghana and Nairobi, Kenya. In addition, participating ventures receive funding and support, including $10K equity-free stipend per venture; $10K AWS credits.

Program Duration: Program activities from February to June 2027 (Virtual Kickoff Feb 9, 2027; residencies in March and May–June 2027; additional virtual meetings in April and May).

About the Course

Halcyon runs this accelerator for founders building market-based solutions for agriculture and food security in Sub-Saharan Africa. The program focuses on ventures with early traction and realistic potential to scale.

The accelerator includes virtual programming, expert workshops, investor networking, and support from advisors. Moreover, selected founders join two in-person residencies designed to strengthen leadership, capital strategy, and product-market fit.

Participants also gain access to Halcyon’s global founder community and alumni network. Therefore, the program offers both short-term support and continued connections after completion.

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is for founders who are based in Sub-Saharan Africa and are building ventures that strengthen agriculture and food systems. Applicants should already have a working minimum viable product and early commercial traction.

  • Must be based in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Must have a working Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with realistic potential to scale
  • Must be at paid-pilot or post-revenue stage
  • Must demonstrate early commercial traction and market validation, such as paid pilots, revenue, customer contracts, or similar evidence
  • Should show early evidence of impact on smallholder farmers, low-income or vulnerable communities, or food systems
  • Applicant must be the CEO or hold primary decision-making power
  • May apply with up to one co-founder
  • Must be working full time
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must be at least 21 years old by the start of the program
  • Must commit to all residencies, program activities, events, and virtual and in-person sessions
  • Venture must contribute to one or more UN Sustainable Development Goals and use a market-based approach to strengthen agriculture and food systems
