The Freedom Prize 2027 International Jury is open to young people worldwide aged 15 to 25. Selected jury members will take part in remote preparation and then travel to Caen, Normandy, France, for in-person deliberations in February 2027.


This opportunity is hosted by the Normandy Region. Jury members will help review proposals and select three nominees for the Freedom Prize 2027. In addition, organizers will cover transport, accommodation, catering, and visa costs for selected participants.

Tell Me About The Programme

The Freedom Prize invites young people aged 15–25 worldwide to highlight and defend individuals or organisations engaged in exemplary fights for freedom. The programme has three stages:

  1. Call for proposals – Young people nominate inspiring figures or organisations.
  2. International jury deliberations – 24 jury members meet in Normandy (Feb 15–19, 2027) to select three nominees.
  3. Global vote – Young people worldwide vote online (Mar 22 – Apr 30, 2027) to choose the laureate.

The laureate receives €25,000 to support their fight, awarded at a ceremony in Caen, France, June 2027.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must:

  • Be 15–25 years old on 19 February 2027.
  • Speak and write in English or French.
  • Not have served on a previous Freedom Prize jury.
  • Submit a proposal form nominating a person/organisation for “Our Freedom Prize 2027.”
  • Be available for jury deliberations in Normandy (Feb 14–20, 2027).
  • Provide a resume (CV) and motivation form.

How Are Jury Members Selected

  • Organisers review applications for diversity of profiles and motivations.
  • Telephone interviews may be conducted.
  • Selection ensures representation from Normandy, other French regions, and international youth.
