The Science for Africa Foundation is offering a limited number of event scholarships for individuals who want to attend the Global Mental Health Africa Conference (GMHAC2027) in Nairobi, Kenya. The conference will take place from 8–10 February 2027.


These scholarships may support conference registration, travel, accommodation, and other related costs. In addition, priority will be given to applicants based in Africa whose attendance depends on financial support.

The Global Mental Health Africa Conference 2027 (#GMHAC2027), convened by the Science for Africa Foundation (SFA Foundation) and the Mental Health Innovation Network (MHIN) with support from Wellcome, will showcase African‑led mental health research and innovation. It emphasizes locally driven solutions with regional and global relevance, fostering collaboration, South‑to‑South learning, and stronger connections between research, practice, and policy.

Conference Objectives

  • Strengthen visibility of African‑led mental health initiatives.
  • Convene diverse stakeholders (policymakers, researchers, practitioners, funders, and those with lived experience).
  • Promote South‑to‑South learning and shared leadership.
  • Facilitate partnerships through an Innovations Fair.

The conference theme is “Together for Mental Health: African Leadership, Global Impact”, with four tracks:

  • Expanding Access to Quality Mental Health Care – platforms of care, youth mental health, cultural responsiveness, resilient systems.
  • Leadership, Power, and Lived Experience – co‑production, advocacy, youth leadership, caregiver empowerment.
  • Policy, Financing, and Global Advocacy – translating evidence into policy, sustainable financing, systems strengthening.
  • Innovations and Frontiers in African Mental Health Research – locally led research, innovation, and emerging approaches.
