The ISC Civic Science Fellow 2026 is a fully funded 18-month remote fellowship hosted by the International Science Council. Applications close on 16 August 2026. The programme starts in September 2026 and focuses on science communication at the science–policy interface.
Selected fellows will contribute to research, practical guidance, and engagement work that supports the use of scientific evidence in international policy contexts. In addition, the fellowship offers a monthly stipend of about USD 5,000 and support for international travel to meetings and events.

The ISC Civic Science Fellowship, funded through the Rita Allen Civic Science Fellows programme, is an 18‑month fully funded fellowship hosted virtually by the International Science Council (ISC). It focuses on science communication at the science–policy interface, exploring how multilateral organisations can communicate evidence more effectively in international policy processes and strengthen the role of science in decision-making.

Who can apply?
Applicants must:
- Hold a PhD (or complete one before September 2026) in a relevant discipline.
- Commit full‑time for 18 months (September 2026 – February 2028).
- Provide a letter of support if currently employed.
- Sign a tripartite agreement with the Rita Allen Foundation and ISC.
- Hold a valid passport and be able to travel internationally (including to UN and ISC meetings).
- Be available weekly on Tuesdays (12:00–14:00 ET) for Civic Science Fellows Learning Labs.

- Strong track record of research and publications.
- Expertise in science communication, especially in policy or governance contexts.
- Experience working with governments, international organisations, or scientific bodies.
- Ability to translate research into practical guidance and tools.
- Excellent English communication skills.
